ARAFMI Hunter Mental Health Month Walk and Civic Park Festival is an annual event in Newcastle. The Walk encourages everyone in the community to come together to show support for those who live with mental illness, their families and friends, and break the silence on mental illness.
To join the Walk meet in the Hunter Street Mall, cnr Hunter and Newcomen Streets at 9.30 am, ready to walk at 10 am to Civic Park. There is no required age or fitness level for this easy 1.2 km walk – pets are welcome.
If not walking, join us in Civic Park where there will be speakers, information, stalls, entertainment, activities for children, food and beverages.
Mental illness is a part of life and it impacts on individuals, families and the whole community in a variety of ways.
Through education, information, sharing and public awareness, attitudes and beliefs can be challenged and possibly changed. We aim to achieve this by encouraging the community to unite in a way that supports and offers hope to people who live with mental illness, their families and friends.
Please come and support our Walk.
Please invite your family and friends to help us spread the word.
