Dear Mum

October 10, 2017 @ 9:00 am - November 30, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

World Mental Health Awareness Day is Tuesday 10 October 2017.

What is the Sitara’s Story #dearmum campaign?
It is an essay writing competition where everyone is invited to explore their own mental wellbeing. Entrants are asked to write a letter to their mother (or other important family figure) on any topic they choose. The letter could be introducing something they wish they could discuss with their mother/significant other face to face, it might be about feelings (good and bad) or it might be acknowledging Mum’s/other significant other’s support. Sharing stories with mother or other family member/s aligns with this year’s Mental Health Month theme of “Stronger Together”.
Why should everyone take part in the #dearmum campaign?
Because it is an opportunity for them to:
• speak up about their feelings to break down communication barriers
• be creative and expand their education
• recognise the important role those closest to them can play in their mental wellbeing
• help Sitara’s Story raise funds for mental health education
The campaign will be inaugurated at 9 am on 10th October, World Mental Health Awareness Day and conclude at 11:59 pm on Thursday 30th November, 2017. Results of the judging of the essays will be posted on the Sitara’s Story website in December 2017 and the best letters will be awarded great prizes.
