“Drumming is the simplest thing that groups of people can do to come together and unite in peace, harmony and love” – Babatunde Olatunji
Earthen Rhythms invites you to be part of this amazing rhythmical event offered at a number of locations throughout Sydney, the Central Coast, the Hunter and Great Lakes Regions. These will be family friendly events and all ages and abilities are invited. Carers should accompany clients, parents to accompany children. Bring your whole family and enjoy an hour of rhythm. All drums and equipment provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
The aim of the drum circle is to take people from an individual perspective to a group awareness using a series of fun and engaging rhythm games.
Barry Bittman, MD, researcher and neurologist, is head of the Mind-Body Wellness Centre, in Meadville, Pennsylvania. His research has shown that “certain group drumming protocols can positively affect the immune system in your body. He has broken the American Medical Association’s ‘sound barrier’ by proving that drumming can have a measurable, reproducible, positive impact on many aspects of biology, psychology and social interaction.” – Arthur Hull
Three general intentions these Drum Circles will include:
• Create rhythmical empowerment
• Create health and wellness &,
• Create community
To quote Arthur Hull, the famous American Drum Circle Facilitator:
“The same values we need for a strong community are nurtured and rewarded in a facilitated drum circle”. These values include:
• Good listening skills
Take a step away from your everyday. Spend an hour in the Drum Circle, release yourself from the past and give yourself the opportunity to see the possibilities in the future.
