The LifeLong Happiness Workshop aims to enrich CALD communities with information and activities promoting positive mental health and wellbeing, and equipping members of the community with methods to sustain the positive benefits of good mental health and wellbeing for a lifetime.
The workshop will start with a community education presentation provided by Black Dog Institute on ‘Breaking Down Depression and Building Resilience’. The presentation will inform participants about what mood disorders are, their causes, how to spot warning signs, what to do and how to build personal resilience.
Participants will then experience a session of Tai Chi, a form of moving meditation that focuses on breathing and attention and is proven to have physical and psychological health benefits including decreased symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Information on local community health services in a variety of languages will be provided at the workshop as well as morning tea and lunch.
