The Mental Health Wellness Walk (formerly known as The Mental Health Walk of Pride) has been an annual event for the Hunter Community to step out of stigma for 12 years. Mental illness is a part of life and it impacts on individuals, families and the whole community in a variety of ways. Through education, information sharing and public awareness, attitudes and beliefs can be challenged and possibly changed. On a fundamental level this is what Mental Health Carers ARAFMI (Association of Relatives and Friends of People with a Mental Illness) Hunter is aiming to achieve, by encouraging the community to unite and bond in a way which supports, encourages change and offers hope.
Please come and support our 12th annual walk. We will be starting from Pacific Park (top of Hunter St) Newcastle East at 10 am and walking to Civic Park where there will be speakers, information, stalls, entertainment, activities for children, balloons, food and beverages.
