Annesley House is a mental health and homeless specific nursing home in Leichhardt. Earlier this year residents at Annesley House had the opportunity to participate in a photo-shoot.
Many of the residents have never had the opportunity to have a professional photo of themselves or have never had an opportunity to display their photos in a home. Local photographer Justin Buckland volunteered his time to take portraits of our residents to display in the home. The photos were taken in the local Leichhardt area and in Annesley House itself. The exhibition is on display during Mental Health Month and celebrates the person behind the illness and brings awareness to mental health and homelessness.
Each photo will be accompanied with thoughts or a personal story through a short narrative by the person, giving the community an insight into the person and their inner experiences.
The event is partially funded by WayAhead’s Mental Health Month Small Grants
