The Campaign – the Theme
Mental Health Month is recognised and celebrated throughout the month of October in NSW. The aim of the campaign is to promote the importance of early intervention practices for positive mental health and wellbeing and reduce the stigma associated with mental health. The awareness campaign is held annually in October to coincide with the World Health Organisation’s recognition of World Mental Health Day which is celebrated on the 10th of October.
As part of the campaign, WayAhead and our partners encourage communities around NSW to get involved with the campaign by organising an event in their local community to promote mental health awareness and help reduce the stigma around mental illness as well as encouraging help seeking behaviours.
Small Grants Program, Resources, Mental Health Awards
Local communities, individuals or networks can participate in the promoting mental health awareness through our small grants program where we offer small grants to help communities with organising events for the month of October, ordering free resources which includes posters & postcards of our Mental Health Month theme and the 10 tips to stress less & factsheets or nominate a service, project or individual in one of our Mental Health Matters Awards.
