sHedway is holding a stall for raising awareness of suicide prevention and positive mental health and wellbeing at the Sports Shear competitions of both Culcairn and Walbundrie Ag Shows, Sat 5th Oct and Mon Oct 7th 2024.

sHedway is a registered company led by people from the shearing industry to raise awareness of suicide prevention within the shearing shed ‘family’. Our goal is to make it ok to talk about mental health in the sheds (Lets Talk About It!), share the skills to recognise when someone might be struggling and how to help them, and how to help ourselves at the same time.

With the WayAhead grant, sHedway is hosting  a health stall at both Culcairn and Walbundrie shows over the long weekend. sHedway representatives will be competing in the shearing competitions whilst spreading the word about mental health, and upcoming mental health workshops for the shearing industry. At Walbundrie Show we will also host an osteopath from Sports and Spinal Albury, offering treatments to shearing competitors and volunteers. We know that physical health and injuries can impact our mental health, and we know how hard it is for shearers to access healthcare when it’s needed. So we are taking healthcare to them at the show.
