Social Umbrella is a non-profit organisation established in 2023 and based in NSW.
We organise various events for immigrants of diverse backgrounds who have
immigrated to Australia and strive to protect their rights.
In commemoration of World Mental Health Day on October 10th every year, Social
Umbrella joins hands with the Way Ahead Mental Health Association to unveil an
extraordinary opportunity. Introducing our captivating Writing Contest themed “We all
have a role to play,” specially crafted for spirited Korean immigrants aged 16 and
above, residents of NSW. This contest is your canvas to paint tales of triumph over
loneliness, fatigue, depression, and stress, while also forging bonds of solace and
solidarity.
How to embark on this transformative journey:
• Please express your interests by using the event link provided below or by
scanning the QR code on the poster.
• Dive into your creativity with a 2-3 page A4 entry
• Play with any format that suits your narrative style
• Send your masterpiece to socialumbrella5@outlook.com
• Submission window: From 10:00am on September 1st until 11:59pm on
October 1st 2023.
Honouring resilience, we will award the first prize of $200 and certificates and
gleaming prizes for other talented contributors.
You can participate by writing by hand or using a computer, and we welcome all
works written in English or Korean. With our doors wide open to diverse voices, we
extend the option to employ a pseudonym if you wish.
Your voice is important, and we eagerly anticipate your participation and kind
support.
